In Conversation

Our Nordic heritage gives us a distinctive lens: a tradition of openness, consensus, and forward-thinking design in governance, in innovation, and in dialogue. In Conversation is where that ethos meets the energy of LSE, creating discussions that are at once grounded and global.

Vision

At the heart of In Conversation is the belief that the exchange of ideas shapes the societies we build. We curate discussions that move beyond the surface, pairing Nordic perspectives with global insight. Whether exploring the shifting currents of geopolitics, sustainability, culture, or innovation, our goal is to create a space where students, leaders, and thinkers engage in dialogue that sparks change on campus and beyond.

Our conversations take many forms

  • Our keynote series brings visionary leaders to the forefront, offering bold, big-picture perspectives on the issues shaping both the Nordics and the wider world.

Previous speakers have included Nicolai Tangen, CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management, and Espen Barth Eide, Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. These talks are designed to inform and inspire, bridging research, lived experience, and future-facing ideas that resonate.

  • Intimate, in-depth exchanges where speakers open up about their journeys, insights, and challenges. These sessions blur the line between formal lecture and personal conversation, creating space for curiosity and authentic connection between audience and speaker.

  • Bringing together diverse voices to debate the most pressing issues of our time. Past panels have featured distinguished Nordic defence attachés such as Pål Øystein Hope (Norwegian Defence Attaché Captain), Stefan Larsson (Swedish Defence Attaché Captain), and Dan B Termansen (Danish Defence Attaché Commodore), tackling topics from security in the Arctic to the shifting geopolitical landscape in the Nordic region.
